"I very much enjoyed myself at the Hackney Schools
Mentoring Awards, and I was delighted to see the enthusiasm
of everyone present. It is very rewarding and encouraging
to see such cohesion and cooperation between the world of
business and that of education "

Former Secretary of State for Education |

"Sometimes it’s difficult to get teenagers enthusiastic
about anything, yet every year over four hundred volunteer
to take part in the Hackney Schools Mentoring Programme.
The enthusiasm for this fantastic scheme is a testament
to the dedication of the mentors, the professionalism of
Stuart, James and Deryl, and the commitment of everyone
involved."

"This is
by far the largest group we have had going through the mentoring
programme; its successive growth year on year is a result
of widening the horizons of our pupils and building on the
positive experiences of previous years.
This programme gives our pupils a sense of reality about
routes for success based on the observation of professionals.
It has to be said that our pupils also educate their mentors
about life of a pupil in Hackney! Mentoring can help give
students a clearer understanding of different careers and
of what steps they can take to access those jobs."
