Year in brief

The week following the Ice-breaker the HSMP team meet the students at school and travel with them on buses to their mentor’s workplace. Generally this is just one company but sometimes students are matched to mentors from a few different places.

Once at the company, mentors take their students on a tour, exchange contact details and arrange their next meeting.

We encourage mentors to hold the first three or four sessions on a weekly basis. This enables both the mentor and mentee to establish rapport quickly and students will become more confident far earlier on in the relationship. Thereafter meetings take place fortnightly from 4:15/4:30 pm and generally last one hour.
