Year in brief

The mentoring year begins in July when the HSMP team travel to schools and companies to carry-out on-site presentations. Staff will usually hear about recruitment sessions through their internal email or message board and can come along during their lunch break to find out more about the scheme.

Students generally find out about the programme within assemblies in Year 9 or through their older friends or siblings who may have been mentored.

Many of the companies and schools who are involved with the programme appoint a member of staff as the Mentoring co-ordinator who acts as the main point of contact. Mentoring co-ordinators often take an active role in the promotion of the programme and help to co-ordinate the response.

Everyone interested in the programme is encouraged to register their interest by completing profile forms with no obligation. These are often handed out during the on-site presentations and are also available online.
