Training

August

« RecruitmentIce breaker »

The training of mentors begins in August of each year. The sessions last for approximately three hours and cover all a mentor will need to get them started with their mentoring relationship. Topics discussed include "What was it like being 15?", "Potential Problems and how to solve them", "Confidentiality” and “Child Protection".

Each volunteer is provided with a Mentor Training and Resource Pack which contains all the information covered during the training days. It also contains lots of interesting games and activities which can be completed during mentoring sessions as well as suggestions on how to deal with common problems or difficulties.

Mentors also get their Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) evidence checked and have the opportunity to network with other city mentors.
