and looking to the future |
|
The Hackney Schools Mentoring Programme has just concluded another
successful year.

The first of eight celebratory recognition events took place
on the 14th June at CMS Cameron McKenna with students from the
Seacole Centre. The Centre houses the Year 10 pupils from Kingsland
School, which closed in August 2003, leading to a considerable
amount of uncertainty and anxiety amongst students about their
GCSE’s and how the closure would affect them.
The dedication of Cameron McKenna mentors to their students has
really helped to turn things around in a big way, with students
showing a newfound confidence and faith in the future that they
had previously lacked.
The event was very enjoyable with students using a microphone
during the presentation of certificates to thank their mentors.
Precious Osadolor read her mentor Sarah Keeley a poem her friend
Karen had written about what the scheme had meant to them over
the year. Once the speeches were over everyone tucked into a glorious
gateaux provided by Cameron McKenna which was appreciated by all.
