From December 2010 to February 2011 the HSMP team carried out feedback with all its student and mentor participants and were delighted with the positive experiences that individuals and groups have communicated. Mentees described mentoring as “very helpful. It helps me with learning about the world of work and it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn great stuff” and “It’s really good! I find most of the exercises very useful and our mentors are really friendly”. Mentees have described their mentors as “cool”, “bubbly” and “brilliant” and said overall “they make things easier”. One mentee summed mentoring up as “a place where we can get away from constant stress and talk freely about what we want to do when we are older”.
Mentors have given equally shining reports about their students, describing them as “bright and engaging with an independent and critical mind”, “reliable and interested”, “responsive and adaptive”, “thoughtful, intelligent, polite” and last, but not least, “a great pleasure to mentor”.
