After the exam |
 |
 |
| After the exam don't spend endless
time criticising yourself for where you think
you went wrong. Often our own self-assessment
is far too harsh. Congratulate yourself for the
things you did right, learn from the bits where
you know you could have done better, and then
move on. Make sure you take snacks with you so
that you eat and drink in between your exams.
Go for short walks, if you can. When you're in
the exam, take mini breaks, to avoid getting too
tired. That means switching off for a minute every
15 minutes or so. It can really help top up your
concentration levels.
Give yourself time to relax and get over the
exams. Forget about them for as long as you can.
Waiting for the results to arrive can also be
a stressful time.
If you have been successful, well done. But if
you have not done so well, don't panic. There
are lots of options. You may be disappointed and
find it difficult to think about what to do next.
There are lots of people around to help make the
decisions with you. You may choose to retake some
of the exams, or perhaps take a year out and come
back to your studies later.
Don't keep your worries to yourself. Talk to your
parents, teachers or friends about how you feel.
Childline offers help at exam time and you can
write to or telephone them at any time. They also
have web pages dedicated to helping you through
your exams.
