Cardinal Pole School

Cardinal Pole is a Roman Catholic voluntary aided secondary school for boys and girls.

The school has a register of approximately 1000 pupils from years 7 to 13. Year 7 and 8 pupils are housed in the Annexe in Victoria Park Road and pupils in Year 9 to 13 on the main site in Kenworthy Road. Careers guidance is given from Year 9 and homework is compulsory for all. A work experience programme is arranged for those Year 10/11 pupils who have completed coursework requirements.

Cardinal Pole has steadily increased its student involvement in the mentoring programme over the past few years. Currently there are 62 students matched to 33 mentors, the majority of which are from Allen & Overy based near St Pauls Cathedral.

Cynthia John, learning mentor at Cardinal Pole says the feedback from students has been positive so far. “The students involved are thoroughly enjoying it. It makes them feel quite special travelling up to the city on the bus and has done a lot to boost self-esteem and confidence.”
